02 — Off the clock

Personal.

I don't share much unprompted. This is the long way round — the things I'm reading, building and thinking about, kept here so I don't have to make small talk to tell you.

Updated May 2026 · Dubai

Building a personal AI assistant that runs most of my day over Telegram — calendar, mail, the home, reminders, the lot.

Exploring deep-learning approaches to systematic trading — tinkering with an MLP, walk-forward, on a home GPU box — alongside a handful of smaller automated systems I keep running.

Things I've built for myself, for fun, or to find out

Telegram AI assistantongoing

A personal assistant that runs most of my day over Telegram — calendar, mail, the home, reminders, the lot. The hub everything else quietly plugs into.

Systematic trading modelresearch

A deep-learning systematic trading strategy — an MLP, trained walk-forward — running on a home GPU box. Half genuine research, half an excuse to keep the GPU busy.

SMS expense trackerongoing

Reads my bank's transaction SMS with Tasker and the ChatGPT API, then logs and categorizes every spend into Google Sheets on its own. Slowly turning it into a proper Android app, with AI doing most of the heavy lifting.

Personal book RAGwip

Ask my favourite health and business books a question and get an answer back, drawn straight from the text via retrieval-augmented generation. Vibe-coded, still half-built, genuinely useful already.

Parking watcher2023

Reverse-engineered the office parking app's API and wrote a Python script that pings me on Telegram the moment a spot opens up. Small problem, disproportionately satisfying fix.

Home labongoing

A NUC server, a GPU desktop, Home Assistant and Plex, quietly humming in the corner. The routines run the flat — lights dimming to a red hue by late evening, the projector waking five minutes before kickoff, everything off when nobody's home — and I automate anything I'd otherwise do twice.

home assistant

Habit trackervibe-coded

A small app to log and monitor how well I'm keeping the habits I actually care about. Built mostly to find out whether I'd use it. (I do, mostly.)

Workout trackerongoing

A training log I actually use — quick enough to fill in between sets, and honest enough to show me when I'm stalling.
