Off the clock

I'm not one for small talk, so this is the long way of sharing my life with others: what I'm reading, building and thinking about.

What I'm up to lately - updated when something changes
Updated June 2026 · Dubai

Building a personal AI assistant that runs most of my day over Telegram - calendar, mail, the home, reminders, the lot.

Trying to find ways to make money while I sleep, through systematic trading.

Tinkering with running LLMs locally, so I'm not a slave to OpenAI and Anthropic for my AI fix (go Qwen 3.6 27B!).

Staying in touch with tech and business news (shout out to Stratechery).

Telegram AI assistant

A personal assistant that runs most of my day over Telegram - calendar, mail, grocery tracking, reminders, and anything else I need help with. Trying to make it the hub that the rest of my life plugs into.

Local LLM experimentation

Running open models like Qwen and Gemma on my own GPU. I know they're not as smart as the cloud models (yet), but they're in my control - mainly for privacy, cost, and to stay ahead of the subscription squeeze that I'm sure is coming.

Systematic trading model

Trying a few different trading systems across stocks, commodities and crypto. All running in paper mode for now, to see if anything actually works.

SMS expense tracker

Reads my bank's transaction SMS with Tasker and a fine-tuned ChatGPT model, then logs and categorizes every spend into Google Sheets on its own.

Deep Dive

NotebookLM for my own feeds: it reads a week of podcasts and YouTube, writes one consolidated take, then lets me ask questions until I actually understand it.

Parking watcher

Reverse-engineered the office parking app's API and wrote a Python script that pings me on Telegram the moment a spot opens up. Small problem, disproportionately satisfying fix.

Home lab

A NUC server, a desktop, Home Assistant and Plex. The routines run the flat - lights dimming to a red hue by late evening, the projector waking five minutes before kickoff, everything off when nobody's home - and I automate anything I'd otherwise do twice.

Habit tracker

A small app to log and monitor how well I'm keeping the habits I actually care about. Built mostly to find out whether I'd use it. (I do, mostly.)

Workout tracker

A training log I actually use - quick enough to fill in between sets, and honest enough to show me when I'm stalling.
